YARD WASTE PICK-UP WILL START MONDAY, APRIL 2

Yard waste pick-up starts the first Monday of April, which will be Monday, April 2. Please do not place yard waste along the street until that date.  Yard waste will be collected each Monday, from April 2 through November 26, 2018, unless impacted by a holiday.  Please note guidelines below.

Until April 2, the Grandview Service Department will accept delivery of properly tied or bagged yard waste at its Goodale facility. Please call the Service Department at 614-488-4728 to make arrangements for your delivery.

If a holiday falls on a Monday, yard waste will be collected on TUESDAY, for that week.  Holiday closings are advertised in the local paper, the week prior to the closing.  Yard waste must be appropriately bundled or placed in biodegradable paper bags, and shall not be set out earlier than one hour prior to sunset on the day prior to pick-up.  Bundles or bags shall be placed behind the curb at the street.

Tree limbs and shrubbery must be cut and bundled with twine or string (no wire, plastic or nylon string.)  Bundles should be no larger than two feet in diameter, four feet long and weigh no more than 50 pounds.

Grass and plant materials must be placed in paper bags, not to exceed 30 gallon capacity and weigh no more than 50 pounds (no plastic or biodegradable plastics are permitted.)

 Sod, soil, or dirt covered roots are not accepted.

Residents may use a refuse container for yard waste but weigh no more than 50 pounds and should not have limbs sticking out more than 12″ above the top of container.

PAUL J. FALCO SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION AVAILABLE

The Paul J. Falco Scholarship Committee will for the 20th consecutive year offer a scholarship opportunity to high school level students from the Village of Marble Cliff who demonstrate outstanding scholastic and leadership qualities.  The late Paul J. Falco, who served as Mayor of the Village for 36 years, was an ardent supporter of the Village, its residents, and the pursuit of life-long learning.  The generosity of this endowment by Mayor Falco and his wife Bobbie Hall Falco provides the opportunity to recognize the talented youth of the Village of Marble Cliff.  In its 20 years of existence the Paul J. Falco Scholarship Committee has awarded over $100,000 in scholarships to residents of the Village of Marble Cliff.

To be eligible, a student must be a high school level student, current resident of the Village and have lived in the Village for at least one year.  For 2018, the committee will be unable to offer scholarships to full-time undergraduate students enrolled in an educational institution at the college or university level.  The committee will only be able to offer scholarships to high school senior applicants who have a 3.0 or better grade point average.  Awarding the scholarship will be based on the applicant’s scholastic achievements, character, extra-curricular activities, and service to school and community.  The current applications will for scholarships to be awarded for the 2018-2019 academic year.

To be considered, a student must submit a completed application form (see below) with two letters of recommendation.  Applications can either be delivered to the office of the Village of Marble Cliff or postmarked by Tuesday, April 3, 2018.  The Paul J. Falco Scholarship Committee will review the applications.

Application forms can be obtained from the office of the Village of Marble Cliff at 1600 Fernwood Avenue or the guidance office at Grandview Heights High School.

REMINDER: Village Open House and Council Public Forum (2015 W. Fifth Avenue Redevelopment Concept Plan)

REMINDER:  Village hall (1600 Fernwood Avenue) will be open on February 15, 2018 from 5:30 to 7:00 pm to give residents and neighbors an opportunity to individually review a concept plan for redevelopment of 2015 W. Fifth Avenue.  Representatives of the developer will be available to answer questions between 5:30 and 7:00 pm.

On Monday February 19, 2018, the regularly scheduled Council meeting will include a public forum to afford residents and neighbors the opportunity to publicly comment on the concept plan for redevelopment of 2015 W. Fifth Avenue.  The Council meeting begins at 7:00 pm and the public forum will be held at the beginning of the meeting. Individual’s will be limited to three minutes of comment.

Marble Cliff Announcements

BILL JOHANNES WILL BE MISSED

It is with extreme sadness the Village reports that Bill Johannes (retired Village Clerk of Courts/Administrative Assistant) has passed away.  Bill served the Village admirably for 17 years, retiring December 31, 2017.  Bill will be missed by all.  Services are planned for 2 pm on Sunday, February 18 at First Congregational Church (444 E.
