BUSINESS RESOURCE OFFERED BY THE VILLAGE THROUGH TRI-VILLAGE CHAMBER PARTNERSHIP

The Village of Marble Cliff has joined with the Tri-Village Chamber Partnership to sponsor the Business Inspires podcast series.  Many small businesses do not have the luxury to seek out sources of business best practices, so the Business Inspires series will do that for you.  Monthly, a local business will discuss experiences that have made them successful and those experiences that have presented challenges.  To run a successful business, you need resources, valuable connections and community recognition.  Business Inspires will provide you with the tools you need to do exactly that…inspire you to create the business you are envisioning.  The experiences of local Village business 1400 Food Lab was the topic of a recent podcast (episode 12).  To learn more and/or access Business Inspires, go to the Tri-Village Chamber Partnership websitePodcasts can be found under the “News” drop down menu on the front page.  The Village is proud to support its local business community.

FALCO SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS ANNOUNCED FOR 2018

The Paul J. Falco Scholarship Committee is pleased to announce that it has awarded scholarships for 2018 to the following three Marble Cliff students: Jonah Bode, Luke Sterneker and Matthew York.  Scholarships were awarded based on scholastic achievement, character, extra-curricular activities, and service to school and community.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the scholarship which was endowed by the late Paul J. Falco.  Mr. Falco served as mayor of the Village of Marble Cliff for 36 years.  The scholarship is annually awarded to a resident student, or students, based on outstanding scholastic and leadership qualities.  Mayor Falco was an ardent supporter of the village and its residents. It is through the generosity of the late Mayor Falco and his spouse, Bobbie Hall Falco, that these awards can be made.  To date, scholarships totaling more than $100,000 have been awarded to over 100 Marble Cliff students.

PAUL J. FALCO SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION AVAILABLE

The Paul J. Falco Scholarship Committee will for the 20th consecutive year offer a scholarship opportunity to high school level students from the Village of Marble Cliff who demonstrate outstanding scholastic and leadership qualities.  The late Paul J. Falco, who served as Mayor of the Village for 36 years, was an ardent supporter of the Village, its residents, and the pursuit of life-long learning.  The generosity of this endowment by Mayor Falco and his wife Bobbie Hall Falco provides the opportunity to recognize the talented youth of the Village of Marble Cliff.  In its 20 years of existence the Paul J. Falco Scholarship Committee has awarded over $100,000 in scholarships to residents of the Village of Marble Cliff.

To be eligible, a student must be a high school level student, current resident of the Village and have lived in the Village for at least one year.  For 2018, the committee will be unable to offer scholarships to full-time undergraduate students enrolled in an educational institution at the college or university level.  The committee will only be able to offer scholarships to high school senior applicants who have a 3.0 or better grade point average.  Awarding the scholarship will be based on the applicant’s scholastic achievements, character, extra-curricular activities, and service to school and community.  The current applications will for scholarships to be awarded for the 2018-2019 academic year.

To be considered, a student must submit a completed application form (see below) with two letters of recommendation.  Applications can either be delivered to the office of the Village of Marble Cliff or postmarked by Tuesday, April 3, 2018.  The Paul J. Falco Scholarship Committee will review the applications.

Application forms can be obtained from the office of the Village of Marble Cliff at 1600 Fernwood Avenue or the guidance office at Grandview Heights High School.

BILL JOHANNES WILL BE MISSED

It is with extreme sadness the Village reports that Bill Johannes (retired Village Clerk of Courts/Administrative Assistant) has passed away.  Bill served the Village admirably for 17 years, retiring December 31, 2017.  Bill will be missed by all.  Services are planned for 2 pm on Sunday, February 18 at First Congregational Church (444 E. FALCO SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS ANNOUNCED FOR 2017

The Paul J. Falco Scholarship Committee is pleased to announce that it has awarded scholarships for 2017 to the following nine Marble Cliff students: Caleb Akers, Adrienne Bechtel, Camille Day. Claire Fishpaw, Emma Berlin, Gretchen Varner, Madeline Taylor, Matthew Smith, and Molly Smith. Scholarships were awarded based on scholastic achievement, character, extra-curricular activities, and service to school and community.

2016 FALCO SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS ANNOUNCED

Marble Cliff residents and high school seniors, Georgia Mattingly and Rebecca Jones, have been awarded 2016 Falco Scholarships, according to Jack Kukura, Chair of the Falco Scholarship committee. The scholarship was endowed by the late Paul J. Falco, who served as mayor of the Village of Marble Cliff for 36 years, and is annually awarded to a resident student, or students, based on outstanding scholastic and leadership qualities. Mayor Falco was an ardent supporter of the village and its residents. It is through the generosity of the late Mayor Falco and his spouse, Bobbie Hall Falco, that these awards can be made. Since 1998, over $81,000 has been awarded to Marble Cliff students.
