Community Maintenance and Services

Our commitment to maintaining a beautiful and functional community is evident in the care we take of our residential sidewalks, curbs, and streets. The Village of Marble Cliff maintains and repairs all without any additional assessments to our residents. Even driveway aprons are a shared cost between the resident and the Village, ensuring that our infrastructure remains top-notch without burdening our residents. Additionally, your garbage, refuse, and recycling are collected at no charge, with the Village also covering the cost of large item pickups (excluding building materials).

Exclusive Resident Benefits

As a Marble Cliff resident, you’ll enjoy “resident” status under Grandview Heights recreation programs, giving you access to their top-tier facilities, including membership to the Grandview Heights swimming pool. Our senior citizens also benefit from “resident” status at the Grandview Heights Senior Center, where they can become a part of many activities tailored to their needs.

We Bring Residents Together

Community thrives in the Village of Marble Cliff. It’s highlighted by our annual holiday party, where we come together to celebrate the season. In addition, we support our youth through the Paul J. Falco Scholarship, awarded annually to outstanding high school seniors who demonstrate scholastic excellence and leadership. Since 1998, over $100,000 has been awarded to deserving Village of Marble Cliff students, thanks to the generosity of the late Mayor Paul J. Falco and his spouse, Bobbie Hall Falco.

Continued Investment in Infrastructure

In 2016, the Village of Marble Cliff invested in new streetlights throughout the village, enhancing both safety and aesthetics. We were able to achieve these changes without any additional assessments to property owners. The Village continues to prioritize the well-being and satisfaction of its residents.

The Story of Marble Cliff

From Farms to a Flourishing Suburb

Step back in time to the late 19th century, when Marble Cliff was one of the first suburbs to take shape just outside of Columbus, Ohio. Originally settled by pioneering families like the Slyhs, Millers, and Woods, the area quickly attracted new visionaries like John E. Price and Charles Griswold, who saw potential in the ridge along the Scioto River. Dubbed “Arlington Place” at first, this growing community eventually embraced the name “Marble Cliff,” inspired by the nearby quarries and local landmarks.

Shaping the Village We Know Today

Incorporated on October 12, 1901, the Hamlet of Marble Cliff originally stretched between the Scioto and Olentangy Rivers and up to what is now King Avenue. However, early tensions arose between the northern and southern residents over development plans and expenses, as well as some spirited disputes led by Mayor J.S. Ricketts, who was known for fining revelers at the local country club. These challenges led to redefining Marble Cliff’s boundaries, shaping the Village we know and love today.

A Community with Deep Roots and Modern Appeal

Initially a serene escape for city dwellers seeking tranquility, Marble Cliff has evolved into a vibrant, community-focused inner-ring suburb in the Tri-Village area of northwest Columbus. Covering 175 scenic acres, the village remains a tribute to its roots, with the name “Marble Cliff” still evoking the historic limestone quarries that helped build Ohio and beyond.
